Fan the Flame of Faith Retreat

 Dear Brothers and Sisters:

Recently, we held a Healing Retreat at Holy Family Parish in London. It was a big success, and led our pastor Father Thom Blondin to envision a series of retreats to build up the faith of Christians from our environs.

Here is the basic message of what we are about with this retreat. If this interests you, or you think it might interest a family member or friend in the area, please feel free to register at the links below, or send this along to someone who might appreciate it.

September 18–19, 2026 | Holy Family Parish

Have you ever wished you had a deeper prayer life? Found yourself distracted at Mass? Wondered how to hear God’s voice more clearly, or simply felt that the fire of your faith could use some rekindling?

If so, the upcoming Fan the Flame of Faith retreat may be just the opportunity you have been looking for.

On September 18 and 19, Holy Family Parish will host a retreat designed to give us time to step away from the busyness of everyday life and make room for God. The retreat is an invitation to encounter Jesus Christ more deeply, to rediscover the gift of faith we have received, and to allow the Holy Spirit to stir that gift into flame.

Our retreat will begin Friday evening with Eucharistic Adoration and two sessions, including a reflection on God’s Love Poured Out. Through Scripture, teaching, personal testimony, prayer, and Praise and Worship, we will be invited to consider the depth and unconditional nature of God’s love for each of us.

Saturday will continue that journey with sessions on prayer, the Holy Spirit, the Holy Mass, and practical ways of keeping our faith alive in everyday life. We will have opportunities for personal and table reflection, worship, fellowship, along with a free continental breakfast, and lunch.

The retreat will conclude Saturday afternoon with personal prayer ministry. Our prayer teams will be available for those who would like someone to pray with them for their particular intentions.

Fan the Flame of Faith is not simply about learning more about our faith. It is an opportunity to make room for God and to ask what He may be inviting each of us to do next.

Whether your faith feels strong, somewhat dormant, or somewhere in between, you are welcome.

Come and join us. Bring a friend. Come expecting nothing—or come expecting God to surprise you.

The Light of Christ Prayer

The Light of Christ Prayer is an intercessory prayer composed by Kyle Clement, a member of the team of exorcist Fr. Chad Ripperger, which asks for the light of Christ to shine upon a person or groups of persons, helping them see themselves as God sees them, and helping us to see them as God sees them. The purpose of the prayer is to spiritually open the eyes of the person(s) for whom we pray this prayer, to receive and project Christ's love and to encourage spiritual growth and repentance.

The devil has sown great evil and darkness in our world, and given the ability and time would destroy it and everything in it out of his great hatred for God, and the creatures and things of God. The greatest weapon we have to bring down his strongholds is prayer, and the Light of Christ Prayer is one example of a prayer that strikes at the root of his darkness, by inviting the Light of Christ to shine forth in the hearts and minds of those for whom we pray.

Imagine if you saw yourself as God sees you. God sees everything about you, even the secrets you hide from yourself and others. Yet, He looks upon you with love and mercy, a love so deep, that in spite of your weaknesses, He longs to spend eternity in heaven with you by His Side. If you saw yourself as He does, would you not want to be, moment by moment, like what He sees, and not what the world and your imaginings bombard you with about yourself? Would you not want to live that love that He has for you every moment of you life? Would you not also desire that for others?

Now, imagine if you prayed this prayer for people we are taught to distrust, or even hate, and whose actions might be heinous, like many of the temporal leaders in our world, such as in the final example below.

Below are example prayers, but you may prayerfully discern ways to pray this prayer for particular people you are concerned for. Below the example is further guidance on how to view this prayer and incorporate it into your prayer life.

Example Prayers

1. May the light of Christ be on my wife (name), so that she sees herself as the Heavenly Father sees her; and that I see her as the Heavenly Father sees her.

2. May the light of Christ be on me, so that I see myself as the Heavenly Father sees me; and that my wife (name) sees me as the Heavenly Father sees me.

3. May the light of Christ be on our children, grandchildren, godchildren and siblings so that they see themselves as the Heavenly Father sees them; and that we see them as the Heavenly Father sees them.

4. May the Light of Christ be on all spiritual and temporal leaders in the world, and their families and loved ones so that they see themselves as the Heavenly Father sees them, and that we see them as the Heavenly Father sees them.

The Light of Christ Prayer as an intercession.

Overview of the Light of Christ Prayer

The Light of Christ Prayer is an intercessory prayer designed to invoke the light of Christ upon an individual. It was composed by Kyle Clement and approved by Fr. Chad Ripperger. The prayer aims to help the person see themselves as God sees them, fostering spiritual growth and repentance.

Prayer Structure

The prayer is structured as follows:

  • Invocation: "May the light of Christ be on (name),"
  • Purpose: "so that they see themselves as the Heavenly Father sees them;"
  • Intention: "and that I see them as the Heavenly Father sees them, Amen."

This prayer emphasizes projecting Christ's love onto the individual, which can aid in their spiritual journey.

Purpose and Benefits

The Light of Christ Prayer serves several important purposes:

  • Spiritual Protection: It is often recommended for individuals who may be in environments influenced by negativity or the occult.
  • Encouragement of Repentance: The prayer is intended to inspire a change of heart and mind in those who may be straying from their faith.
  • Fostering Love and Trust: By invoking Christ's light, the prayer helps deepen the love and trust in God for both the person praying and the individual being prayed for.

Practical Application

To effectively use the Light of Christ Prayer:

  • Pray Regularly: Recite the prayer whenever the individual comes to mind.
  • Live in Grace: Maintain a state of grace to enhance the prayer's effectiveness.
  • Engage in Dialogue: If applicable, have open conversations about faith with those you are praying for, encouraging them to reflect on their spiritual path.

This prayer is a powerful tool for those looking to support others spiritually while also nurturing their own faith.
